The Little Wave That Could

In the summer of 2004, BNI Big Tsunami was a force to be reckoned with. The 34-member chapter was thriving. Unfortunately, by the end of the year, we were down to 18 members and morale was at an all-time low.

Jeff Wiegel and I were confident we could get the chapter back on its feet by taking over leadership and reinstating the agenda that Dr. Ivan Misner created. We opened up communication channels, such as the weekly newsletter with core members. Guest rallies the last Wednesday of every month were a huge part of getting everyone involved. Meeting Stimulants were instated every few weeks to bring the fun back. The key to success was putting ownership back into the hands of core members.

BNI Big Tsunami has come a long way. Paul Toffoli and his leadership team did an amazing job taking over and continuing the growth. This year, Ozzie Kipnes, Alison Cousins, Bernie Pawlick, and the entire leadership team have gone above and beyond any of my expectations. I never would have expected that the day I left for the BNI Director's Conference in San Diego, I would be sipping mimosa's, watching the induction of Big Tsunami's 42nd member, and hearing that the $900,000 goal for the year was blasted out of the water.

This chapter, the "Little Wave That Could," passed the $1,000,000 mark in referred business. It was the first chapter to reach that mark in BNI British Columbia history.

Hats off and congratulations!
